What happens after a crash at the track?

ArmyApe's incident at TWS (Texas World Speedway) made me wonder what happens to your "stuff" when you have a accident at the track that requires you to be transported to the hospital?

I typically drive solo to track days. How do you or your family retrieve your vehicle, trailer, and what's left of your bike? MSRH is only 30 minutes away from my home, so that's not a big deal. If I crashed at TWS (Texas World Speedway) or Cressen, that would be a little further.

I know there are a lot of helpful people in the motorcycle community. There's always someone on this forum willing to help.
Guess it's best to buddy up with someone. I could fit another bike in my trailer and take someone that needs a ride. My trailer is borrowed and I have to mount my stand in it each time and have only one stand at the moment. My trailer also has a little more tongue weight than I'd like, as I pull it behind a car. I'm not sure how it would handle another bike. I position the bike as far back as possible to center the weight over the axle, and the bike only adds 40 lbs of tongue weight.

With that said, is anyone in the Pearland area going to MSRH on 05/05? I probably will, but haven't signed up yet.

I've found that most people will gather all your stuff up into a nice little area, and you can come fetch it later.

When I first started riding I was instructed to have a friend or family member with you just in case of such a situation. I'm not really sure what happens to your stuff if you have no one with you and would like to know.

Usually new folks and old post up and see who all is going to the same track day and buddy up and ride together. Also, always good to exchange contact info in case something does happen.

I was fortunate enough that my Brothers from my MC were there. They picked up everything and got my bike on the trailer to take to House of Paint.

When a friend of ours went down at MSRH we got all this things together, packed up his car and somebody drove it home for him.

There are so many people there that even if you don't know anybody, somebody will get your things. I think bikers just watch out for each other, especially the new riders or first-time track riders.

I've collected wrecked bikes and held them in my garage to save members from having to pay for the tow and storage several times. I'm always willing to help if I am able. There are hundreds more like me on MH.

^^^ What Squoddy said. Make sure a fellow MH member at least knows you're there and where your belongings are and you should be well taken care of.

This.

No brainer to never do something potentially dangerous alone or with no contact info or next of kin information.

In between bikes

If transport takes place:
Usually friends take your stuff with them (car, bike, etc).
If driving solo, at least at Ride Smart (from what I saw), others who live in the area take your stuff to drop off (seen it many times and done a few too).

If no transport:
Usually the person is assisted by others in packing stuff and return home (assist in driving, etc)

Kind of depends on your crowd too. That is why it is a great idea to make friends with those around you in the paddock. They know you, know what your stuff is, and in case of a mishap, can/will jump in to help take care of things.

If you are out there with no partner and no one close to come pick up your bike, gear, etc (it happens more than you think) the track day personnel will get with the track to pack up your stuff and store it there. Yes, they will store it for you. Just get track contact info while at the hospital. Your stuff will be taken good care of from what I have seen. Call and make a link up time and get a ride back to the track to look at the remains of your bike. No, its not recommended to go alone and no one plans to crash, but...

Don't ask me how I know this.

What happens when there's a wreck at the track?

Well, Lucar sheds a tear for the lost of a bike, of course!

When I went down some folks volunteered to trailer my bike back to the house. I chipped in some gas money, but they took it reluctantly.

I also have space in the garage to temp store a wrecked bike while the rider heals up. Lots of us can help out if things go bad.
