Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too.

Dammit. I hope it's not somebody we know.

Bet if law makers were to throw negligent homicide charges on these types of collisions people would start to take more notice of bikes

RIP.

This is one of two scenarios that I feel we have little to no control over. One being someone making a right from a feeder and the other being someone making a left from an oncoming lane...

RIP, very sad.
I wish the media/ police would reserve initial comments about speeding, like they did with this accident, more. At least until they have more facts.

The road he was traveling on is two lanes in each direction - center turn lane (FM 2920 .. farm to market black top). There is a large Kroger shopping center on the North side where the car was turning out of. This intersection has a lot of traffic with there being a Walmart on the other side of the intersection on the northside and another large shopping center also at the intersection on the south side. From the description on the link provided the bike was traveling east in the left hand lane next to the center turn lane. The SUV turned out wide into his lane instead of going into the Center turn lane to wait for traffic to clear.

Very sad and I feel for his family.

The SUV swung wide. Why is it so hard to maintain your lane in a turn!?

This should be Veh Manslaughter ... Not saying life in prison or anything. Judge would prob give probation for first offense but I think tons of community service at a local rehab center where other bikers have been down via cagers to see the destruction that is caused when you dont pay attention. My mom is a rehab nurse.. I have seen and heard about it my whole life. She almost cried when I got my bike last week.

Accidents are accidents ... otherwise they would be called "on purpose".

It still does not change the fact multiple lives are affected here due to the carelessness of one person. I lost my dad in a car accident when I was 13 (23 yrs ago) due to driver of the the vehicle he was in falling asleep at the wheel. Its one thing to due stupid and take your own life...it really sucks when someone else does something stupid and takes the lives of others.
