First Bike-CBR250R. Question about first service.

Just got my CBR250R last month and nearing the 600 first service. I called to the dealership and they were going to charge me upwards $350ish for the first service with valve inspection or something like that.

I'm new to the bike scene and was curious to see if there was any other place in Houston that could do my first service for a smidge cheaper than that.

Been forum hopping for honda's and people pay around the 200 or less mark. I don't mind riding a bit of distance to get to where someone would help me for a fairer price.

They misunderstood you, all you need for the 600 mile service is oil and oil filter change. Unless the sevice is different than the 600RR and 1000RR, valves are checked every 16,000 miles. Check your owner's manual maintenance schedule. READ YOUR OWNER'S MANUAL

What's listed in the manual and what the dealership said they were going to do on the 600 service was:
valve clearance inspection
oil/oil filter change
engine idle inspection
brake and clutch inspection
nuts and fasteners(?) inspection
steering head bearing inspection

dunno if all this is really needed or not. never had to do this with any break-in for any cars ive owned so far.

Maybe the 250 is different. The 600RR and 1000RR require valve inspection every 16,000 miles. Everything but the oil/filter, and valves on your list is just a quick visual check

Since it's a new bike, I heard they also check to make sure all the nuts and bolts aren't lose. Try looking up a cbr250r forum to see if anybody had the same 600 mile service?

Yeah, I've been roaming the cbr250 site and they had all that I listed checked out too. I might just bite the bullet and pay it. It's my only form of transportation cuz the wife takes the car to take the little one out.
