i think pedrosa was at 68 degrees during the quatar race. they have a lean angle indicator that pops up on the screen every now and then. proly linked to the bikes telemetry

Cool; is that the center of mass or is that the bike angle?

I think this is the greatest lean angle I have a picture of I just wish it was head or tail on so you could do the angle thing. It must be close to 70

that is friggin awesome! I was just talking about lean angles last night with a friend of mine. I don't think I've hit 45 degrees and to see those guys leaning to 68 degrees...nuts.

THe new lean angle display on the Motogp.com broadcast showed Edwards at 70deg lean several times at Qatar this past weekend. I can't remember if it was in qualifying or the race I saw it in.

Ryan Andrews dad would yell at him for dragging his elbow at TWS (Texas World Speedway). If you followed Chuck Ergle he would sometime reach down and slide his knuckles on the track.

The 88 bike is at a 54deg lean angle. Sometimes the pictures are a bit deceiving. Also another note on the MotoGP bikes. I think they are giving the figures according to absolute level. Not the bike to ground angle. Which is the only way I can calculate it based off a picture. In another words, if the track is banked at say a 30deg banking and then they are leaned over, it is possible to get say a 90deg lean angle in reference to absolute level (the point at which water levels out due to gravity). However, they would only need a 60deg lean angle in reference to the ground. Sensors cannot take in affect the angle of the surface, only in reference to the pull of gravity.

that would make a lot of sense. the bike probably uses a gyroscopic tool which would ahve no idea of the grounds angle. Hmmm, time to get some screen shots from motogp.com when they have the angle indicator going to check.
