The rules regarding Food and Beverage have been a major downside to MotoGP Cota. I loved bringing my own food+drinks to Laguna and Indy (and Monza in Italy allowed you to bring in food). I guess my gear won't be nearly as heavy since I won't be bringing in a 30 pack of brew.

Just pack it all in a cooler nad keep it in the car. Tailgaiting is allowed so I just plan on slipping out to the ride, and grab my food and pound a few drinks etc...

that's confusing... so a dslr with a 700 telephoto w/o monopod will be fine?

^this^

We are taking an ez-up to keep the bed of the truck shaded, and will have a bar setup, along with food and snacks, but I will have to have at least one nasty meal at the track, I mean, its a tradition....

This will apply to the parking lots on premises....may be different for those 'other' parking lots but would have to stay in car anyway.

from the law, cannot carry:
...
(4) on the premises of a racetrack;
...

premises, means not just the buildings but entire property.
Sec. 46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE HOLDER.

3) "Premises" means a building or a portion of a building. The term does not include any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area.

I wouldn't take anything over a 200mm. They don't want "professional" photo/video equipment. They even get funny about that at the Aeros games. You can take a DSLR, but your lens can't be "too long," and that's very subjective. As long as the weather's nice at COTA, a Nikon 18-200mm with a 1.4x teleconverter should be fine and not draw too much attention at the gate.

Just like a handgun with a 14 round magazine is dangerous but a 7 round mag is acceptable.

...so would that not be interpreted as such:
From PC §46.035 of Texas Concealed Handgun Laws Code Click Here

(2) on the premises where a high school, collegiate, or professional sporting event or interscholastic event is taking place, unless the license holder is a participant in the event and a handgun is used in the event;
.
.
.
subsection f3:
(3) “Premises” means a building or a portion of a building. The term does not include any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area.

^^^does above not state premises do not include:
- public or private driveways
- public or private streets
- public or private parking lot
- other public or private parking area

In each case, all listed are premises specifically other than those owned by COTA, which is all of their property area plus all of the structures and buildings thereon.

Legal definition of premises specifies all of the property of the owner, plus all of the structures and buildings that are ON that property.

COTA has parking that is ON their property. That would be off limits to CHL.
Parking that is NOT on their property or premises, such as parking that the people around the track turn into parking lots, would not be covered by CHL law since it is other parking.

Unless you are a lawyer or LEO I believe you are reading that wrong. A premises defined under Sec. 46.035 does not include a private or public parking area
