It will be interesting to see this progress. I like some of the "inspiration" bikes you showed.
IMHO the worst looking part of the old Beemers was the engine crankcase. The cylinders, etc. look cool but I never liked the crankcase.
The reason I'm saying this is my suggestion, not that you asked lol, would be to de-emphasize that area. The bike with the checkered flag paint looks sweet but the red engine just doesn't seem right.
My vote, if I get one, is to keep it silver or go black.

Otherwise it's a great choice! It will make for a cool and unusual cafe/street fighter style bike. Good luck!

My plan is to remove the ugly airbox that sits just above the transmission. That and with the removal of all the electronics, I can run a smaller battery that I will hide under the cafe tail. I think that will really open up the frame and will make it look less bulky.

As of now, Im planing on painting the headers black and have the edges of all the fins brushed for a two-tone look. I was thinking about doing the same to the rest of the motor as well.

I need to get a storage unit or something so I can start the disassembly of the bike. No room in my garage.

For the bars, I have to say im going with clip ons. smaller head light with a simple gauge. I was thinking about removing the ignition all together and just wiring up a switch under the seat or tank. However Im not sure yet.

Hey everyone. I'm looking for an exhaust for this project. I would really like a single long arrow can, or an under tail mount.

Please let me know if you have anything you want to get rid of

Here are some updated photos:

Tear down continued. Soda blasted a lot of the frame, motor, and carbs.
