Question about COTA Race

Not sure where to put this... But figured some people here might know. I want to go to the COTA race, but i'm still crippled from my wreck. (Broken leg mainly) Do I need to get special tickets? Or how does it work? I assume I can't just get regular seats, since I wouldn't be able to get up the stairs... Can anyone fill me in?

I would call COTA and ask what they have to accomodate you.

Are you in a chair?

I can use my crutches, but from what i've heard, it's probably best to use my wheelchair.

If your leg is still broken, you'll want to use a wheelchair. If not, you will walk your off! They had handicapped places in some of the stands at the F-1 race, but I'm not sure about for the MotoGP. I'm sure they will, since handicapped accessibility is a federal mandate.

Like other have said, you might want to call for more info.

Hope you have strong arms!

Handicap ramps and good seating area at the top of the Turn 15 stands. The facility is big and much of it is on crushed granite walk ways so I think the chair is your best option. I don't recall seeing turn 1 with any handicap ramps or seating and the hill in a chair or crutches would be a huge PITA. I'd try the T15 area or the front straight if you need to sit out of the sun.

Hurry up and get a disability tag, so you can park somewhat remotely close to the track.

Do I need to get a separate disability tag from COTA?

No, they don't give us special passes. You are going to find out real quick why I don't go to big live events. Total pain in the with people running into you because they don't see you with their cell phones glued to their faces. I often feel like turning my head while rolling or attaching razor blades and spikes to my chair. Lol

I have seen this happen as well with a friend of mine and it me off as well. Luckily he has a backup chair that is a big 4x4 electric things from the VA that he uses to hunt with and also literally run people over when they start acting like or get too drunk to notice someone in a chair trying to get by.

Thats almost sad you can get better service through social networking than you can when calling their phone line.

Maybe I'm just old...
