Question WTF Happened? Nearly ate it at TWS (Texas World Speedway) on Saturday, Mechanical Issue?

I don't know what happened so I would love some feedback. I was catching a downshift and when I let out the clutch, nothing, I lost all drive. I had thought my chain had broke due to the sound, but, nope. As you can see the bike suddenly regains drive and the rear jumps around on me right before I run off.

What happened? Is it a transmission issue?

Bevo: Pitted after that to check the bike out and kept riding after that.

bluewave18: I thought false neutral as well, but, some other folks thought otherwise curious what the oh wise interweb has to say.

If it happened only once, I would go with false neutral

In between bikes

similar happened to me a few years back at MSRC just before entering rattlesnake. Was accompanied by almost a clunking noise, loss of power and ended up driving off too. After that, could not reproduce. False neutral was my only explanation.

Definetly a false neutral. The clacking you here is the dog teeth clacking back and forth between two gears. Eventually it managed to engage one gear. It happens. Learn to be more positive with your foot during shifts.

Last session on Sunday I lowered the gear shifter we'll see if that helps.

I'm going to guess false neutral as well. Same thing happened to me at turn 1 and I gave up riding shortly after for that scare and a few other reasons.

The Kawi 6 is notorious for false neutrals.
