email from jimmy.

I already knew all of this but it's still nice to hear it. The most important part is ride where you feel safe and not scare yourself ,is easy to get carry away when riding with other fast guys ,I love going fast but today wasn't the day the wind and the trucks had me on the edge, just remember if you scare yourself it means is time to drop it down a notch, there's always going to be someone faster as well as someone slower ,learn to control the pace you will do on the rides and don't let there influence you,for what I saw you rode good And I'm sure after a few trackdays you will feel even better and it will teach you a lot, also if you find yourself constantly crossing the yellow lines you are not on control yet and is also a sign to drop it down a notch, always look where you want to go and never give up on a turn once you start it force yourself to finish ,that's why a lot of people crash they panic and loose focus and give up,just Lean more push more on the bar and keep looking around the turn

I never ride thinking of keeping up. I ride ro have fun and enjoy myself through every turn and every twist of the throttle.
I always tell new riders they will need 2 things, patience and responsability.
Patience; to learn and to get comfortable on the bike. As time progresses or our more claimed "seat time" they will find themselves better at what they do.
Responsability; anynody can be fast on a SS.. but it takes common sense and responsability for yourself and your actions out there on the street. You have to be responsible enough to know when to cut back or slow down.
We all were and most of us are still noobs.. I'm pro noob rides and track. If we all would watch and help one another improve our riding skills we'd have safer riders and less "going down" threads... (walls and deer dont count)

I remember that day, windy as on 1489....the straights out were hard to control....and you had to compensate for the wind gusts in the turns ....very tricky day it was!

So true about learning at the track. I was at a plateue on the street. Couldent and didn't improve much. My first td I learned more about controlling my bike in adverse conditions than I did in 2+ years riding.

And look at me now, 2 track days in. Now I'm low man on the totem pole for level 2, but that's what happens when you are accepting of criticizing people! It's constructive, it betters you!!

Get to the track fellas!
