What's going on in Austin over MotoGP weekend?

4 of us are coming from New York over the weekend.
(I'm flying in Thursday night and flying out Monday afternoon)
I've been to Austin many times, but it's been a while.
If you guys can give me some pointers such as where to eat, drink, MotoGP parties... etc... it'll be great!

Thank you in advance!

Franklin BBQ was just named one of the top 20 restaurants in the country, but you'll have to get in line early as its a national BBQ hot spot right now. Tacos la Guera has awesome breakfast tacos down on south congress. Casino el Camino on 6th has a $7 Mary that will fill you up as its overflowing with add ons. Uchi sushi is changing the face of sushi restaurants nationwide, get in if you can. Gordough's donuts are great. There are more food trucks than you can shake a stick at but i always look for Flip Happy Crepes. Top Notch burgers is a straight up old school greasy spoon burger joint and was the background for the drive in movie scene of dazed and confused, well worth a visit. I'll add more for ya when I get home from work, I love atx and i love the food scene there. Let me know if this link works for ya, compiled by the good gang at Austin Speed Shop http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=790817

Unfortunately there are no downtown fan events like they have in Indy or like they had for the F1 event in Austin this past November. I'm sure downtown will be busy, but they won't have the festival environment as the permits got rejected.

For BBQ I suggest riding down to Lockhart "BBQ Capital of Texas" for some awesome BBQ from one of the 3 or 4 main places there in town. It's a short ride/drive down 130 which is the same hwy that passes the circuit.

Be careful riding or driving 130 late in the evenings though as there have been a lot of wrecks and incidents with wild pigs being in the middle of the roadway as there are no street lights and the speed limit is 80-85mph. Also keep in mind that the F1 race had more than a dozen State Troopers setting up speed traps on 130 between Hutto and COTA.

We are renting a car, but will be in Courtyard Marriott Austin.
So downtown would be our convenient location...
Do not wanna get DUI in Texas for sure!!!
