Whoa man. That doesn't look too far from the street...

So weird that it was not easy for everyone that went by to see.

Very sad, I hope he didn't suffer...

Have they said what cause of death was?

Thanks a lot guys, that means an awful lot to me. Thanks to everyone that helped and commented.
I am so glad i got to ride with Mark on last time on Saturday, it was a small group of 4 riders and the roads were clear, hardly any traffic at all, and no cops, i can see the smile in his face every time we would make that u turn to ride the road again.

that is also a possibility that would explain the sudden change in direction.

I think I met him twice. Great guy always smiling and outgoing. Some people walk in our lives for just a moment, but stay in our hearts forever... RIP mark.

That is not a hard turn and from you guys were saying, everyone was at low speeds all day. I just don't get it. Ive heard of locals getting mad and throwing bricks, nails, etc in the turns out there. I hope some car did not swerve at him and cause him to go wide. If so let them try to sleep at night with this on there minds,
Im so sorry for the rider and his family.

Mark already went through the hard part of the turn with a few bumps in the middle of that bridge, if he didnt crash there how can he crash on the easiest part of that turn?

From the pics and the speeds you mentioned, something out of the ordinary must have happened. Swerving to avoid car seems most likely

the other possibility is that maybe there were a group of cyclists on the other lane and a car was trying to make a pass by going into Mark's lane, but if that was the case, i cant understand why the group of cyclists didnt report it or the car making the pass stopped to check on Mark.

I'm at his apartment now with friends, his co-worker/roommate told me they have his phone and wallet. He said the cops/dps have the gopro and won't release it to the parents.

A group (6) of us spent about 1.5 to 2 hours there today. Thanks to all that showed up.
1-we did observe several moments of silence.
2-after it was all said and done there is a good idea of what happened but we really don't know for sure, so conjecture would be pointless.
3-where this happened it is perfectly plausible that people could have passed the spot as your eyes are focused on the next corner and not the side of the road.
4-a gap of 150 feet or more it is also plausible that you would not have seen it.
5-Sean placed a memorial candle there as well. Thanks Sean.
As mentioned we really don't know what happened we just need to learn and work on being accountable.
Mandatory CRADAR? Maybe.
Prayers to family and friends.
