boot hangs up...

not something that happens very often, but if it did happen at the wrong time could be an issue...
i ride a cbr600 with vortex rear sets.. i wear alpinestars smx plus boots...
these boots have an exterior skeleton frame work for ankle support/twist prevention...
i have noticed that occasionally the right boot gets hung up and i can not easily pull the foot free of the rear set....the first couple of times it happened i was so new to trackdays and so keyed up that by the end of the session i forgot all about it....it happened to me again last week at ECR so today i put the bike up on the stands and took the boot and hand fitted it on the peg and moved it around to see if i could figure out what it was getting caught on... it turns out that when you have the ball of the foot on the peg and move the foot just wrong that the rear set gets hung up in the exo-skeleton of the boot...if you try to pull the boot up forward or outward it just gets jammed worse, if you pull it up and to the rear it comes free....
has anyone else had this problem? right now i am thinking the easiest way to cure this problem is to just go with a different style boot...any opinion or suggestions?

Ive had something similar happen with a pair of boots, and it scared the out of me. Old boots i have now so far have been good.

not sure exactly how its getting hung but if it is what i think it is you can maybe try 'thickening' the part on the rear set with jb weld or something so that the boot cant slide into it. might be cheaper than a new pair of boots.

Yup. I had to cut the inner ankle "pad" off. Stitching came out and my boot would hang on the rear set. Not cool when trying to shift in a turn.

I've raced in Supertech-R boots for years and never had that issue... Is there a way to send me a pic of how it's getting stuck??? It's hard for me to picture what's happening without seeing it.

Are you truly on the of you're feet?

Duck tape, duck tape, duck tape. Seriously, I just use duck tape and it has never happened again. And when the duck tape starts to come off it will catch a teeny tiny bit and is my cue for more duck tape.

It happened to me in my first race at ECR this weekend. It only happened in one spot where there was a quick transition from left to right. I immediately thought of this thread when it happened.

I think it may be because there was less time to set up for the corner, that it caused the boot to get caught up.

I am always on the of my feet, toe pointed in the direction of the turn. When transitioning from one side the the next, you are not focusing on what your foot is doing when on the opposite side of which you're turning.

To fix it, I had to focus on both feet. I purposely put my opposite foot closer to the edge of the peg, but only in the corners where it was happening. It did not happen in my 2nd or 3rd race.

By the way, Diadora boots with Woodcraft rear sets.

If I was fast I would use duct tape.

I had the same boots and the same rearsets. It happened all the time and was very annoying. Now I have supertech-r boots, so it never happens.
