Split Blocker Fail

Ok, so I'm on the South Loop headed East approaching 288. Traffic is almost at a standstill for miles because the ramp to 288 South is closed for construction. So I'm splitting the far left lane, just casually passing cars between lanes 1 and 2. This douche in a yellow VW bug up ahead in the left lane spots me and creeps right to ride the lane lines with his right tires to block me.

I get behind him, fake hard to the right, then dive to his left to pass, then cut right across the front of his cute car and just keep on splitting

Nice move. So was it a head fake or a full on pattern?

Yeah!
I never understand why it bothers people stuck in traffic?

No sir, wrx-swapped impreza 2.5RS here.

I have no problem with lane splitting outside of potential contact. I would like to see use of the shoulder (below 25 mph) become legal for bikes. Makes more sense than lane splitting.

You would be surprised how much room you have between the the fast lane, and one to the right of it. Too much in the shoulder for me to want to ride in there. Plus in heavy traffic when both lanes are full, and not going anywhere people can't just quickly change lanes VS someone could pop out onto the shoulder.

yes sir

This made me chuckle out loud.

The Ride Smart/WRX sounds pretty sweet. Mauricio, do you go to any of the Nasioc meets?
