I've been doin track days for a year or so and I've been passed by dudes that are way faster on bikes that are way slower. It puts you in your place.
But with patience and practice you will be passin them back.
I have an '04 750 and it gives nuthin up to a 1000 'til the far end of a straight. then ya gotta brake anyway.

I recommend the riding school at Lone Star Track Day. I have not tried the Longhorn motorcycle school though.

If you can, corner work for Lone Star Track Day to get the credit and then pay the extra $50 or $60 to take the class.

Before you go to the track, have you...

Let me add this. I haven't seen anywhere in this thread where you said how long you'd been riding and whether you had taken the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) basic rider's course. If you haven't taken the basic rider's course then I would NOT go to a track day. You need to know the basics of braking, turning, countersteering, etc. before you go to a track.

At one of my track days much of the beginning group had NOT completed or at least learned the basics that are covered in the MSF training. They didn't belong on the track and should have been practicing in a parking lot somewhere. I was having to pass them on a cruiser.

Check out the forum here for Awesome Cycles. They have a motohouston discount, I think. Get signed up for the class if you haven't taken it already!

Sorry, I am usually not like that but thought that was funny.

:BangHead: Hey I resent that Ive been riding gsxr's for almost 10 years and Im not a squid. and btw it was the other riders skill that skooled the gsxr rider not the bike !
