I'll agree the 1125 is a while different bike.
I had a GSXR 750 I was doing track days with. A guy showed up on a brand new 1125 and I was impressed with how fast it was compared to the Buells I had ridden.
I could catch up in the turns but he would beat me down the straights. Not by a whole lot but I had a hard time getting around him.

That said, there is no way it is comparable to a Duc Streetfighter, engine wise anyway. It might out handle the Duc but I don't think it would out run it.

I always said, if they got the engine sorted out, I'd buy one. It felt to me like, just when you thought the power was gonna kick in, it ran out of RPMs.
Then I rode the the Streetfighter. It's similar, being a naked bike and all, although with a longer wheelbase. But the MOTOR is awesome!!!
The Ducati Streetfighter is what I was talking about, lol.

Streetfighter!!
1098 not 848.

Seriously, I looked up the specs on the 1125 and it would give the Duc a run for it's money.
Weight and power are similar enough that it would come down to who is riding, that would make the difference. No wonder I had a hard time hangin' with that guy on the track.

The 1125 would make a great place to start making a custom 'fighter style bike, IMHO.

I sold my Monster to buy Troopers firebolt, don't regret it a bit. I have never had a bike that is as nimble and fun as my buell, it's like a surgical jackhammer.

I really want a street fighter type of bike. they are just more fun to me.

Does your friend do any type of "extra" maintenance. I mean what else besides changing the oil/brakes will be different? I heard they DON'T need valve adjustments, so what kind of "maintenance" is everyone talking about?

What Buell do you have? an xb?
again... people say 'extra maintenance' .. besides oil/brakes/clutch what else is 'extra' about the maintenance?
really don't care about keeping up with the "fast pack" i'd much rather chill out and have fun popin' wheelies...I like going fast.. just staying smart about it. that fast stuff it what gets people killed, only takes a split second.
Extra maint. includes tightening bolts all over the place.
I have an 04 XB12s. Picked min up for 3k. Average price is between 4-5k.

This bike is considered by many as a wheelie machine. But, if you slam them down it has a habit of destroying the front rubber engine mount. You can do 0-60 in 2.2 seconds and then past 60 it's about 1 second every 10 mph. The bike likes to run right around 100mph (90-120). It will stand right up from a dead stop. If you check any of the you tube stunter videos where they up, most people just WOT and flip the bike right over. Where the inline 4s have the straights, this bike just eats corners.

Perfect example of the extra maint:

Though my voltage regulator was going out cause headlights kept popping. Yet VR was giving perfect readings on the meter. Turns out had a loose ground connection on the wiring harness where headlights connected to harness. Was down in baytown doing a gig with Psycho Pete and I lost both headlights. Was about to trailer it and said wtf, let me pull the headlight assembly off, AGAIN. Lights back on and perfect all the way back to 1960 from baytown. We unload his bike, I gear up, head for home, POP, no headlights. Turn around, crash at his shop, ride it home this morning. Find the loose ground connector and fix it, in the process, found one of my seat catch bolts had fallen out and rear shock cartridge was loose. I keep loctite under the seat. I've had every bolt on the exhaust system either fall out or snap twice, and that was with loctite and torqued to specs. I've rebuilt the fuelpump assembly, twice, had to detail clean every wiring connection to solve a random shut down issue, snapped clutch cable, bad sparkplug wires, temp sensor short, snapped rear swing arm bolt...think thats about it..

On the plus side I can completely rebuild that entire bike in under 24 hours now that I've been through every possible issue and remapped and tuned my own ECM. I still love the bike.

I do want an 1125, well, the 40,000 1140 honestly, lol.
My only concern with the 1125 is the ugly scoops and the fact it's a Rotax engine and I currently don't know anyone local who works on rotax except for airplane mechanics.

^lol, the last Buell I test rode had a headlight bulb recently replaced (while i was in route), checked it over, then took it out, returned from the test ride and the front sheild was missing a bolt. Rattled loose in a matter of minutes. Like, out his neighborhood, down a block, into another 'hood, and then right back.
