I'd ride a KLR out there, but it will be a workout unless you go so slow it isn't fun. Even then It may be more than you bargained for if you havent ridden sand and trails before. And there's a very good chance you will need new blinkers when done.

My friend and I went, he on a KLR and myself on the 690E, he was wore out after about 4 hrs riding. Its not that its a bad bike, just big and heavy for the trails. He dropped it 4 times in the sand and picking it up wore him out. Lot of tight technical stuff.

True the bike is heavy but I have to work with what I got. I guess i will just have to choose the right line in the trails. The more I fall the stronger I will get.

Nobody mentioned the endless deep whoops full of sand and hidden roots. I see no way to actually "enjoy" riding that bike on those trails. As mentioned you would have to go so slow it wouldn't be much fun. Unless you're really superman! I have a buddy who does real well on a DR650 Suzuki , I didn't believe till I saw it!

are you riding the bike there or trucking it?

i'm moving my status to a 98% status...just waiting on spousal approval, which is another 98% positive.

if your bike tires you out, you can certainly try my KTM 200 out, as long as you give it back! KTMs are addictive and you might find yourself browsing Craigslist and KTM dealerships the following week.

We can switch out bikes I have ridden many bikes but never a KTM so it will be fun. As far as ridding or trucking i will most likely truck in case things go wrong on the trail.

The KTM is more than fun...it's life changing.

I have 2 others that are to meet me there. As details come in I will place here.

I look forward to showing you some of the trails.

ya. my bike gets there in the bed.

right now I am uncertain of the time frame. I like to get there before sun up and leave by 11am. My buddies won't be there that early though, so I might see about sticking around into the early afternoon. That is all part of the details to iron out with wife + buddies.

It would get very interesting, very quickly on a Vstrom. Let me know when you go as that would be entertainment I'd almost pay for.
