Anyone can go with a TX OHV sticker and spark arrestor. A KLR with streetable tires is gonna have a time in the trails. a KLR with knobbies will be IMO.

936-344-6205 Option #2 for Multi-Use trails.

Currently all East side are open and 2 on the west side.

My next expected trip to my favorite playground is the 27th.

I have the spark arrestor i will be looking in to ohv sticker. i do realize klr sucks with street tires i just orderd some 80% off 20% on road tires. Its a heavy bike but i love the power i also have a hayabusa so when it came to making a choice on what to choose it was simple the bigger the better plus on the highway i got it up to 120 with stock sprockets

you can get them at various moto shops in Town. I forget which shops have them.

I tend to buy them via fax and the PDF found on the page in the below link. In the past, if I ordered on Monday, I had it on Wednesday or Thursday.

Just call the moto shops before you go. They only have a limited number on hand.

I only really know of 3 weak points on the KLR:

1. the engine
2. the frame
3. it's weight

Other than that it's a perfect off-road machine.

Do you just dislike the bike? I weigh 240 lbs i feel like the bike fits me well. is the frame or motor really a weak point? i have never heard of klr frames breaking.

Im not sure if you know what the trails are like at SHNF....Ive been on my DRZ and XR650R, they are both on the heavy side (still lighter than your KLR) and it was a work out.

I wouldnt even dare to bring a KLR out there....not saying it wouldnt work but it would just be to much work.

I suck at riding the trails but I have been a handful of times. Its very sandy, technical and tight in some spots. Thats my opinion though...

Without knowing you and your abilities on the 650, I'm going with one of the top 10 workouts of your life. I might even go as far as one of the top 5.

I was just trying to be funny, I may have failed. I have never ridden a klr650. I ride my two stroke 300 Berg in the woods and it can be a handful at times, but then again I'm kind of a . SHNF isn't that difficult, unless it is muddy. Byrdman can attest to that.

Heavy bikes in the mud means either carry your speed or fall down a lot. You never know till you try , you'll be alright, just choose your line carefully and be prepared to drop the bike.
