I feel bad for everyone involved. Including the officer.

When you run someone over you expect them to either die or require a long hospital stay. Running 2 up on a dirtbike in your neighborhood doesn't warrant a death sentence. Kids did this stuff all the time where I grew up. You would just duck into the corn fields when you see a cop and giggle because they couldn't find you. Harmless fun. Some of you guys with your "they deserve to die" rhetoric are unfuckingbelievable.

Crime: Riding an unregistered dirtbike.

Solution #1: Run them over and kill them.
Outcome: $50M lawsuit at the expense of taxpayers. Millions in medical bills for the new cripple at the expense of taxpayers. One totaled 250 smoker at the expense of taxpayers. Bad publicity for the NYPD. Personal liability for the officer.

Solution #2: Pursue for a couple blocks and let them go
Outcome: They may decide it is a bad idea to ride that bike around unregistered.

And if the LE Agency does nothing other than a report, and the suspect goes on a crime spree, and is eventually caught after x more burglaries/robberies/kidnappings/etc, people who side with you would say, "WTF are the police doing?" Of course this is after the extensive media coverage that would be showered upon the inept PD.

Our Justice system is sooo up it aint funny. I can't tell the difference between here and Angola.

I assume you say this in jest. Ive never been to Angola, but I would say our Justice system is better than Angolas, although ours does have its flaws. But, show me a Justice system that does.

Cops(the ones who chase, IMHO) have a complex, it comes with the badge. Some grasp for it with the thought of everlasting power. Some use it for good, some just shrug.

Well, Id say you're wrong. I've gotten into my fair amount of , and I don't think anyone here who has met or conversed with me would say I have a complex. Some think Im an because I say FTP and egg people on, but this is the interwebz; arent we supposed to say that?

I am all up for punishment of criminals, but all too often it is dished out the wrong way and at the wrong time.

Face it, EVERYONE in the Justice system has a thankless job and no matter what people in the system do, its wrong in some peoples eyes.

I can only speak for myself, but I think it is reasonable to ask questions in an incident like this. I also don't like the fact that questioning an incident involving police is so polarized. People that ask questions are automatically against the police, and everyone else is making excuses for them. My bet is that a lot of the time excuses aren't necessary in the first place if everyone was more focused on the actual details of what happened.

Asking critical questions surrounding an incident involving a fatality doesn't = FTP. It means how bout everyone stop making excuses or giving reasons why what happened is ok based on personal opinion, and lets analyze what actually happened. I don't see anything wrong with that; to me it is simple accountability.

My initial posts were more focused on the excuses I mentioned, and the tone of them likely based on the frustration of people missing the point of what should be the topic of the conversation and how useless it is to try to get the conversation put back in that direction.

to me, the bike and the cop werent going that fast. Had the pole not been there there would have only been bumps and bruises (unless they wore theyre gear AMIRITE? )
