It's getting replaced for sure, just a matter of where and when. Hopefully tomorrow and probably Honda of Houston on 290 and I'll have no way to take the old tire with me.

That would be funny....

Not worth all the trouble just to give it away to someone.

Just heard from Patrick at Motorcycles Unlimited, he has a better price on the tire and install....he's about the same distance from work as HoH.

just plugged the tire about 15 minutes ago....man the nail in there was a good 1/2 in long.....went all the way into the tire. Hopefully this plug will hold air so I can take the bike to Motorcycles Unlimited in the morning to get a new tire put on.

I had a Michelin 2CT that lasted one session at MSR and came in with scrap metal and leaking air, Buck hooked me up with a race tire for the day, but i took the other tire and patched it at the dealership and its ran fine for the past 500 miles, don't trust it on the track but definitely cheaper and i wasn't about to throw away a tire with 30 miles on it.

well the plug seems to be doing its job so far, been holding air for about 30mins at least now. overnight will be the test I guess.....I still won't trust it fully until this tire is gone and a new one is on.....

then starts a break in on the new tire, dang it...

no telling how long that nail has been in there, I just happened to notice it day before yesterday when I parked the bike at home....it just happened to be facing out the back so I could see it.

I know a lot of people don't trust plugs and patches, but I've ridden out the life of a tire on a plug on more than one occasion with no issues.

Make sure you know how to plug it properly (and that the puncture is appropriately matched to the plug/patch being used), check it every now and then, and DO NOT ride with it on the track or on the streets at track speeds.

To each his/her own, but I'm not about to throw money away on a tire I don't need.

I'm not real excited about buying a new tire when this one still has at least 2/3 of its life left, but I'm a whole lot less excited about risking my life to save a couple hundred dollars by using a damaged tire or getting stranded somewhere with a flat cause the stupid plug leaked. :eh:

Well, I've ridden another 3k+ miles on my SVS with a plugged rear tire. YMMV.
