It's a fun place to ride but it's expansive for a yearly membership and the waiting list is kinda long. I just go to the Forest and enjoy..

well they emailed me a day or so ago saying they had a few openings, its the 4 mandatory work days that get me. and i dont want to spend the extra 200 to not do them.

hit up lostner or CarbonJames here. Those fools ride more than they work it seems and they'll be happy to show you the ropes. Texas Xtreme Offroad seems to have the easiest race format. No transponder, no major number plate requirements (duct tape works!), etc. they probably have the fewest riders at their events, making it less intimidating. TORCS and TORN also have good folks and nice events (as well the occasional TRH events and MSRA) with a few more participants. Check out TON, post up a "show me the ropes" thread at an event you can attend and I'm sure there will be plenty to guide you through your first event.

you can start by meeting us at Brazos Valley this Saturday at 10am for the open ride day.

We'll be riding on what was likely our last race course plus alternate trails too.

This should give you a good feel for whether or not you're interested in doing any harescramble racing in the future.
