GPR installed on 929rr, it's weird, why?

I got it 2nd hand. but I installed it last night, and I to pull out my driveway. it's weird as and for slow maneuvers , is it suppose to be like this? I had to put it on the lowest setting to be able to get out my neighborhood. do I need to just get use to it? or do I need new oil and whatever these things need?

just need to get use to it, use a lower setting from city commute and crank it up on backroad or track riding.

I've heard a lot of guys talk about getting these steering dampners maintenced though, and since this one looks kinda old and has been sitting in someone's garage for a while I thought it may need new oil... but apparently I gotta get used to it

Let someone try it who has experience riding with a damper

Is it adjustable? If so turn it down, it may be set stiff.

yeah I turned it all the way down, I thought first I had tightend the triple tree bolt too much. I used a break bar to tighten it to the triple tree, but not like insanely tight just nice and tight. but took it off real quick and it's not the bolt being too toght

Can you actuate it by hand off the bike on the lower settings at least?

Are you sure you need a steering damper? I mean the 929 wasn't known for being an unstable bike, as far as I recall.
If you are gonna mod your bike you need to find somebody that has some knowledge about what your gonna do.

I mean, it's kinda serious and all...

I mean on the track, when exiting corners the front end gets pretty squirly. a lot of the cbr forums a lot of people were recommending steering dampners for the front end being so crazy specifically got the 929rr. I got the forks redone just a couple weeks ago it helped a little

Buy a torque wrench. You can get a decent one for around $60
