My coworkers excellent helmet audio solution.

Step 1: Aquire helmet - preferably one with speaker holes.

Bn0D2xN

Step 2: Buy ipod shuffle and Tork X pro speakers.

Step 3: Install speakers near ears, Mount ipod near chin section with velcro and run wires to each side

Step 4: Enjoy being able to hear your surroundings when needed, pause music on the fly, change songs and volume with ease. I love it almost as much as the artwork on the helmet

Video review on the setup and a better look:

I had something like this in my last helmet. I really enjoyed listening to music without ear buds in place all the time.

I have that setup; no wires, can be tied to any Bluetooth. Music and GPS is what I use it for

Plenty of good sound, even over the ear plugs I always wear.

I have always been worried about adding weight in my helmet. I have 3 herniated discs in my neck. I am afraid extra weight will fatigue my neck faster.

The J&M doesn't weigh but a few ounces, and I have a CF helmet which is pretty darn light to start with.

I use JVC HA-FR36-A with my phone. SUPER comfortable, wont slip out, and good bass response.

nice setup, though I too like having buds to block some noise.

I have my MP3 (similar to shuffle) on my wrist... so I can pause as needed with just a quick slap. Or adjust volume for hwy/city streets.

But dealing with the wire up the jacket sleeve can be annoying. Doesn't work so well with gauntlet gloves either.

I do sometimes where one ear bud and one plug.

Exactly what I did but I hid the wires behind the padding and used noise cancelling headphones and a full sized ipod. It fits right between my mouth guard and helmet front.
