Many thanks to Bluestreak06 (a fellow mainiac) for picking up and delivering the bike to Motorcycles Unlimited. Once I get a few things take care off I will be starting a build thread.
Thanks to Patrick for recommending next steps.
1st Compression test.
Tip - the little carneceria grocery store nest to Motorcycles Unlimited has some great barbacoa and hot sauce.

No Pics yet, will wait till after we do the compression test.
The original pic doesn't do it justice it was a bit worse than I thought, but that's ok as I got it a a great price. ThHere is a similar bike there, and after seeing that and insight from Patrick it gave me a few ideas.
