Just spent $200 tires + $100 to install + $100 oil change = $400

Who got oil?

lol - must be the soft tires that were 'serviced' at that 600 mile service.

Cheap insurance.

I have never had a bearing or oil related failure.
Are you using synthetic? I use full syn and go 4-8k on changes no problem. DOing it for years. I use Amsoil mostly. Never had any issues on over 10+ various vehicles.

ok, so i am an old fart and base my oil change interval on "old" technology...
frequent oil changes will not hurt the bike, they make me feel better and it is MY money...I drink lone star beer because I like it.

Buy your tires from Motosport.com. They always have great deal on tire combos. Take your own wheels off and go have them mounted at Motorcycles Unlimited or your local shop. Changing your own oil is easy if you have the know how. The best way to learn the ins and out of your bike is to do the basic stuff yourself. You could have gotten Amsoil oil and filter for less than you paid for the oil change for cheaper conventional oil.

Dang!! The Oil change is very easy to do!! Do they use synthetic oil? $100.00 is very expensive for an oil change.

8k miles is a bit on the high side, but every 2k seems a bit overkill.

kinda just burning cash at that point (if you have it, go for it). with modern oil technology, you can go for longer, as it doesn't break down as much as people like to think. if you don't believe me, send an oil sample into a lab for testing. my guess would be that oil barely has a dent in it. heck i don't even change the oil that frequently on my race bikes. and i'm talking about regular old dinosaur oil, non of the synthetic snake oil

not really, say 40-60 bucks for oil and filter. How much would you charge to change someones oil if it was what you do to put food on the table? half an hour in labor isnt bad.
