WTH???

Well done Craig. Doing your own maintenance is the way to go. No one takes care of a bike like its owner! This past weekend I took it apart a bit to adjust my cam chain tensioner....I'm due for a valve adjustment (15k recommended) so that will be my next big project along with the spark plugs while I'm in there.

Thanks Gary! I will be due for a valve adjustment soon also. Can I come watch how it is done when you are going to do it? I would also like to learn about the block off plates.

It's not hard to work on your own bike, it just takes patience.

It's a pain, but well worth knowing how your bike works.

Are you going to check the valve clearance as well?

I have done it on a 1973 Volkswagen, but never on a motorcycle. I would like to see it done first.

WTH???

Service Manual tells you how to do it. Only part I had issues with was getting cam chain back on sprockets.

You can buy shims based on what size you need after clearance is checked. Motorcycles Unlimited sold me some when I did my 04 ZX-10R back in 09
