Rider Down on W. Little York

Garbage truck pulled out on rider going eastbound on W. Little York just west of Bingle Rd. This was 1/4 mile from work. I didn't see it happen but I rolled up 1 car behind almost right after, as I saw the garbage truck move a bit, before the driver stopped and got out. Rider had helmet, Joe Rocket mesh jacket and shorts on. Whatever footwear he had on were ripped away from his feet. Look like his lower legs got run over by the truck wheels. One lower leg was ripped wide open. He was conscious and talking. I helped him get his cellphone out. He was trying to call home I think. I stayed there till the paramedics arrived.

Bike was a black and red sportbike. I couldn't tell what it was. Rider is young and will hopefully make a full recovery.

The rising sun low on the horizon may have played some part in this. Be careful out there. And for Pete's sake, ATGATT.

Wtf is that? I hate people with this mentality. Always want a handout or easy way to get a buck. You don't know who was at fault or what happened.

If garbage truck is at fault and they don't try and make it right then yes, call a lawyer. However, what if the bike is at fault? Then what? Lawyer up for the garbage truck?

Your a . Don't know you, but based just on your comment I don't want to know you. I despise people like you that think that way.

The bike was kinda under the truck and away from me when I rolled up. If I had to guess, I'd say it looked like the black and red paint scheme I remember seeing on Gixxer600, '06(?). Dunno for sure.

Rider is white male. early 20's prolly.

Stuff like this is why I do HID conversion and hang all manners of LED lights on my bikes - whatever that'll draw attention.

If the other driver has their head up their you could drive a Carnival Cruise Ship down 1960 and some dumb would still pull out in front of you.

You got this right!......had an pull out in front of me on Fallbrook last Saturday, broad daylight.

Thank for ABS. Front tire ended up inches from his door.

What do I get from him?........Just a dirty look and on he drives! !

Nice of you to help the young man till 1st responders got there.

It sucks to be that young man. Going to be a long recovery for him with that leg as you described it.
Its always a good idea to try to remember that even though you think you can be seen, ride like they cant see you coming.

That you're right. Visual aids can only do so much, the rest is rider vigilance.
