Welcome to TX.
Riding twisties here is no where near what it is up there. Lived in NC for long time and routinely rode into Virginia and w Virginia for day rides.
However the scene here is still active. Many hitting the hill country with sweeping turns, etc. Company is great so I'm sure you will have a good time regardless.

Texas is definitely alot more flat than I'm used to, WV has some great roads. Me and a couple buddies rode to Hawks Nest, WV (not sure if you've been there), it's a great place to ride.

You will get used to it...track riding scene here is much hotter though. If you are looking for action there, let me know and I will hook you up.
When I first came here to Austin, TX, got with some people from a forum who told me they will take me to the twisties. So we meet up, start riding and I thought they are taking me to the place. After about 2 hrs, we stop and they have a wide smile on their faces, and I was like 'so when are we gonna get to the twisties, soon?' I swear they looked at me like I was from Mars.

Then they explained we went thorough them.
The hill country offers some twisties, but for the most part, is will not compare to V/WV area - impossible.

Yes, I rode a few times with some folk up in that area, hwy 60, hwy 4, I believe County rd 11 I believe. All south of I79. Been a long time.
A lot of my time was spent in Virginia - blue ridge pkwy, west of rocky mt area, all the back roads there in the mountains.
We would go each Sunday really early, meet at about 6:30, depart about 7am. We would get there by 8 to 8:30 and would have tons of fun until about lunch. All the cops were in church until lunch so we had a blast with no one watching. When the cops got out and had a snack, then dispersed to patrol, we would be tired already making our way slowly towards NC border again.
Ah, the good ol' days.

I like the weather here immensely better than that area, get to have the bike out year round pretty much. Less rain, etc. I think you will like it here very much. I now think TX is the best country in the world.

Good luck again. Say hi when you stop in Austin.
Take care.

Yea I'm interested in getting involved in track riding, need to pick up more gear though lol. That's some funny about their reaction . I'd be curious to see what road they took you on, I'd have to judge my comfort zone again, since it's been a few months lol.

The weather is definitely nicer down here, it kinda justifies the amount you pay for insurance since there are many more opportunities to ride. I think I'll like it here.

I'm always down to ride, so hit me up, and I'll do the same; more than likely I'm riding anyway. I'm not always in town since I work in the oilfield, but I'm usually in town for about a week at a time. I'll have to check out that track too, sounds fun.
