bike crash

Just saw on the news a sport bike broad sided a pick up and killed him. Looked like a gsxr. Hope it wasn't anyone here. North houston area.

I think the driver of the truck should be charged with manslaughter.

It's illegal to enter an intersection or a roadway unless it's safe to do so. Doesn't matter how fast the bike was going, he had the ROW.

EDIT:
And who said the bike was 'speeding', the driver of the truck? I thought he 'didn't see him'.

Witnesses said the man, riding a Suzuki sport bike, was speeding in the right lane of the feeder road at Barren Springs.

They are blamming the biker. The trucker is getting off the hook, and you know what, as hard as it maybe to say this, it's the right decision to let him off.

btw this is the 4th fatal motorcycle i've heard about in the greater houston/galveston area in the past 2 weeks. Please people drive safe, if you wanna speed be responsible and go to a race track. most of these accidents could be/have been avoided if we just use some common sense. People cant see us, so we should ride very carefully and defensively. Peace out guys.

Not true...

Here's an answer to a FAQ section of a law website:

"A car making a turn is almost always liable for a collision with a vehicle coming straight in the other direction. Exceptions to this near-automatic rule can apply if the vehicle going straight was going well over the speed limit, or ran a red light."

Guys, the truck driver should've been paying attention. I doubt any of the 'witnesses' can judge the speed of a bike. Heck, a Ferrari looks like it's haulin' a$$ just sitting in the parking lot.

"The driver of a pickup truck didn't see the biker and pulled out in front of him."

^ This is all I need.
