Just bought a used bike. Suggestions on where to get it serviced?

What's up guys,

Some back story, just bought a used 2005 Yamaha V-Star 650 Custom with 10k miles on it. It runs ok right now, but I'd feel safer if a professional shop looked at everything (cables, oil change, fluid checks, etc).

What are your guys experiences/recommendations as to service shops? Also, any ideas on what something like this would cost? I live pretty centrally (galleria area). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just want to feel like I'm riding safely. Thanks.

House of Paint and Motorcycles Unlimited are great shops. I'm sure somebody can chime in on something closer to you...I've heard 2 Wheel Toyz is good as well.

HoP and Motorcycles Unlimited are both great shops. I've never been to 2 Wheel Toyz, so I can't comment on that shop.

You would just go talk to the guys at the service counter. Whoever happens to there when you walk in.
