2006 VFR800a (sold - covered a lot of miles)
04 Honda 599 (sold)

Just for reference, the lap record for any vehicle is of course an F1 car. Vettel ran a 1:39.347.
GrandAM Daytona Prototypes ran almost a 2 minutes flat.

The DP cars have some downforce and of course the F1 cars are practically stuck to the track. Being designed specifically for F1 the track is very downforce dependent. Wings on a MotoGP bike anyone?

Well Ducati is working on a KERS system, so who knows what is next.

I think I'd do a few laps, find a way off the track, haul back to Houston and hide that MotoGP bike in my garage

That's interesting, but I'm not sure how it will take to bikes. i think this sounds more marketing technology than useful technolgoy......

Where would they put it...and doesn't make sense to pull off the back wheel since they already use throttle kickers to offset engine braking not to mention back wheel comes off ground at when braking hard... using front wheel would take extra hardware and complication, but if done I think a better spin would be to use it as a two wheel drive, to keep the front wheel from locking and then skidding.

Long story short, this stuff is banned from motogp as it is, and the future, in racing anyway, is less tech not more...

Wings are allowed, but restrictions on where they can be mounted and how far can project from body work render them useless, but that didn't stop Ducati from trying them out.

The irony is, the prototype class, motogp, is the most restrictive. WSBK can have more gadgets as long as you're selling it to the public with those gizmos. If you really want to build and race a true prototype need to go club racing... Where the only words used to describe the CMRA formula1 class are there to say there are no restrictions.
