ive been thinking of setting up a caravan to TWS (Texas World Speedway) (college station, tx) for a Ridesmart or LSTD trackday event for people not familiar with track day prep and procedures when getting there.

my first trackday was something similar in 2005 and that helped me out alot. we did something along those lines with about 4 peeps last year from MH and now they are really fast and addicted.

instruction is free at most places. rent a suit, borrow a ramp, and just slowly build up the collection of tools/track stuff.

LMS has smaller groups and more track time, LSTD has great instructors, and Ridesmart is affordabel. All organizations have many upsides and few downsides. choose one that is convinient for your schedule and im sure you can find a MH member who will be there and is willing to help.

You don't have to buy all at once, there are a lot of folks in here that help. You can get with someone that has a trailer, or like they said boorow a ramp, etc. Just ask more than one will help.

Like alrova said you don't have to buy everything at once. I had my bike a year before i did my first trackday. I took my time and found good deals on all of my gear. Right now I'm still aquiring stuff little by little, but don't rush yourself, trackdays are not going anywhere.

Only you can decide that. A lot of people run their streetbikes, some buy dedicated track bikes. Try it first and decide whats best for you, and what your wallet will allow.

Per the web site, LSTD is $155 (Cresson) for the 3.1 mile track, Ride Smart is $150. :shrugs:

I doubt that arturo was trying to imply one trackday org is better than another. He listed a positive attribute for each one. Nothing wrong with that. At TWS (Texas World Speedway) there is a $25.00 difference between the two orgs.

They were discussing price not rider numbers.

I think MSRH is the highest around, but for what you are getting I will keep going back. The facilities are great. And I much rather pay more and be on a track with less people.

Come on, with the money we are spending on this sport 25.00 is not worth thinking twice about, and if 25.00 is a determining factor then you need to get into a different sport. Not trying to be an but its the truth.

exactly.

i know alot of people have interest in certain organizations (so they are bias) but it was meant to show that everyone can do a track day no matter what their situation is.

its not the money but the days the track days fall on and the availability. this is a hobby for me and i take it serious, but not a addiction.

Sure but, this is what affects the pricing and should be brought to the attention of someone in the market for a track day.
