I havnt read the whole thread so sorry if this was already said. These dealers dont make much money on the retail sale of a bike, they make money on service and gear. The unpack prep fee is to pay the guy that puts your bike together, you dont want some dumb- leaving stuff lose and on backwards like harwin street preps. They are dictated by the mfgr's on MSRP so they add that fee. Obviously they didnt try to hide it, if it was on the paperwork?

Me personally, if I owned the dealership, I would just increase the msrp so you wouldnt see the unpack fee on the paperwork, and people wouldnt cry like "femail dogs" about it.

3 things

1 sorry to hear about your nightmare deal!
2 Don't all NEW bikes come with a fee like this? I think mine did when I bought it! If so go back and finish the deal get the bike then torch the shop!!!
3 In state of Texas I heard you had 3 days to return a vehicle to the seller regardless of policy if you changed your mind?

ya. taking them to court may actually work. they stand to lose more money by being away from the dealership, than if they just gave you back your money.

of course ive found some stealerships are too short sided to actually understand things like that.

no 3 day rule in texas at all, for anything. if you bought it, you own it. If it breaks in half when you drive it, you own both pieces.

small claims court is for amounts under $6,000.

Since the total price of the deal (the bike) is greater than $6k you can't go to small claims court. There is also at least a $250 filing fee in small claims so people won't file frivolous claims.

Sounds like you didn't get all the details on your transactions clear BEFORE you gave them a non-refundable deposit.

BEFORE anyone hands over money on any purchase, be sure to have the seller explain ALL costs associated with the deal and understand them - and get it in writing.

Be careful about slandering a dealership - their lawyers won't like that, especially if the deal is a deal.

BTW - I bought my FJR from them and it was a pleasant experience and they have worked on it since with no problems.

As for the urban legend of the mythical "Three days to return a vehicle I purchased cause I don't want it" - well, it's just that. Otherwise all dealerships would be hit with joy riders and non-buyers and stuck with slightly used new cars.

There is a three-day law but it doesn't apply to automobiles.
