Yeah they are pretty nice.

I got the chance to ride my buddy's, Proflif1c. He has an 05.

Coming off my bike, I felt right at home on his bike. Very comfortable and smooth ride.

I prefer the roar of the twin over the whine of the inlines as well.

Seems like they pull pretty good and i enjoy the exhaust difference from a inline 4.

Cant wait to track this thing!

I love my SV. I have an 06

If you think it pulls hard as-is look into the 05+ shift star mod, and let me link you to Zoran's forums where they have race prep discussion.

Yep. Even then, on fast sweepers, 600s would embarrass me. After riding to Livingston and back, my wrist hurt from holding it wide open most of the ride(2001, top speed of 117 if given 3 miles). That's when I decided it was far too underpowered, and it needed to be sold.

For a track bike, it may not be too bad. It needs a major suspension upgrade, though.

I'm either going to sell my SV or completely track it. I got the fairing and everything else. I got a Penske shock with remote reservoir I might sell If I decide to sell the bike. The bad thing is I wrecked my truck and got a car. So I guess I need to put a hitch on my Lexus or else how will I get it back and forth from the track. Thats where I am stuck at right now. It would be fully ready for the track and I would of been out there a few times. But that is my hold up.

Maybe I can find someone near me that goes to track days often. I have a truck I can borrow easily. I just hate having to do that.

The sv was designed to be a street bike, and a great one it is, therefor it will never perform as those pesty I-4 on the track.

Lol. Well lets see. Put a same displacement Ducati up against a sv and watch it get smoked. Oh wait. And will last longer with out over prices service intervals. Yep. Poor mans Ducati. Poor guy is sounding pretty smart to me.

Yep. Stock SV forks are standard damping-rod style forks.

You can swap out the entire front end with one from a GSX-R but you will need the following:

Clip-ons
Triple clamps
Forks
Axle
Wheel
Calipers
Rotors
Fender
And all associated hardware.
GSX-R controls are not needed.

The rear shock I believe can be swapped out with one from a ZX-6R? 05 I think.

Suspension is SV's Achilles's heel. Get emulators up front or gixxer fork swap, then pair with a good shock, and you'd be in business.

I wouldn't go nuts with power mods, unless you are seriously into racing. Even then, you'd better off spending your money on a better platform.
