Thinking about just getting my private pilots license for like 5-6k
That's awesome man. I'm sure if you like it you can work towards your level 3 or CWI. As far as being a pilot yeah it's cool to fly but it would be hard to find work doing it. I know for helicopters you need at least 500 hours minimum to even be looked at by oil companies. So I hear. When I get out of here there's no telling how many hours I may get but with the way things are going now it may not be much that's why I was looking at getting back into Ndt.

Army flight school. Won't be out of here til' next year. I was working on my CWI just trying to do the time before I could test, but I was accepted for this and kinda put everything on hold. I went to the Ocean Corp and feel like I wasted my time there. Not because the school is bad or anything, but because I never stayed with the career field. It's good your working the plants though just for that reason to expand on the methods. My first job in NDT was with Tenaris and it sucked. I felt like Laverne and Shirley checking coke bottles. I don't know if I would be able to get back into it anymore. I think I have lost a lot of the knowledge. Bummer, but oh well.

That's funny I tried getting on with mistras years ago but that's what was holding me back was my state card. Who you going to do your course through?

Fourty hour rad is just the safety course. they will send you to the state card test once you've been here a couple months if you would like to go take it. What courses are talking about Mistras provides all trainning classes for certs.

Well unless things have change your cents won't follow you if you leave. The level 3 you work for will have to sign you off again but that's not a big deal, just take his test and your good. As for mistras, they didn't offer any cents to me because I already had about 3000 hours in UT, MT, PT, and RT. Have some in Eddy current also but not enough to get excited about. I just didn't have state certification because I was doing cabinet x-ray. Oh and who you were going through, I meant who is giving the class. I didn't know mistras had a certified instructor there.
