GoPros make the distances appear greater, but they were still going way too fast for that situation. It looks like the driver did not see them at first, but once sighted panicked and stopped. The driver's fault for not yielding, but the wreck was aided and abetted by some serious stupidity.

Both riders fault. The general public is not trained to react when 2 live canonballs weighing 600# come over the crest at those speeds.

Just stupidity in my opinion, i mean yeah the car shoulda been watching more carefully and yeilding to traffic which it looked like theyrolled thru but then again the idiots on the bikes were doing just that being idiots. Look how lowered that thing was with the front forks poking thru the triple tree thats not safe either. But to each their own.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing but the dash on the R1 in the stills appears to be disconnected. The tach appears to be sitting at 0 and so is the speedo.

Not sure about that. In the first pic, he's at least 15 feet from the car (maybe more) and it still appears to be at 0. Strange things happen though. They were still riding outside of the safety zone. Too much cross traffic to be playing racerboy.
