Why is it that every time i ride there is always someone in a car that likes to either box me in or drive 5 feet behind me?

They like the way you smell

Although I have seen an increase in stupid/aggressive cagers lately.

Except an Apache helicopter. An Apache helicopter has machine guns AND missiles. It is an unbelievably impressive complement of weaponry, an absolute death machine.

They are all trying to hit you, and you and your bike are invisible.

Its Houston.....

Your not going to like the answer but it's you....

WAY safer to move through traffic. If you drive like your in a car you blend in and will be moved in on ALL the time...

Your question is like a soldier who enlisted and went to war, then asks why he keeps getting shot at.

One can almost always slow down a bit and if there is any room on the road at all they will go on by. I do it all the time. I also approach stop lights VERY slowly and they almost always change lanes to get by me. Alternatively I slow just enough to open a large gap in front of me. If I am first at a light I depart at a quick rate. But when achieve legal speed back off. Legal speed is usually plenty slow that most will go ahead and pass.

You don't have to go fast to shake tailgaiters.

To make "boxing me in" less desirable to cages when on a multi lane road I ride almost on the lane marker lines (usually furthest from the curb) and swerve back into my lane occasionally and then return to the line. Folks don't like getting THAT close to you when you seem unpredictable.

One more thing. I don't mind them tailgaiting me if I am approaching a light very slowly. They provide a nice crumple zone as long as they don't suddenly change lanes and the guy behind them does not slow. If they change lanes I am prepared to speed up.

Swerve back and forth erratically in your lane. Whoever is behind you will back up. It works every time 90% of the time.
