Since I read the thread on motorcycle boots

This thread will be about street gear. Please state what type of bike you ride on the street and what gear you wear. I always try to make sure I wear a jacket, helmet, and gloves but I might need to look into pants as well...

<--- Bike, Icon Alliance helmet, ti-max gloves, ti-max mesh jacket for summer (Kawa textile jacket for winter), work pants (leather riding pants for weekend rides). I don't have riding boots, I usually just commute with steel toe (over the ankle) work boots.

Looking into getting kneepads, or the shinguards that strap over your jeans. I'm fixing to head back out for 4 months, so when I get back it's time to shop for a new bike AND new gear

Since I read the thread on motorcycle boots

My street bike is a cbr1000rr.

My first helmet was a HJC I'm not sure what model. I didn't like it very much. My second helmet was a Shark and it was better. When I changed the shield it developed a air leak that is pretty loud. My third helmet was shoei x-11 loved it until I had my spill at the track.
My newest is the HJC RPS-10 I was hesitant to buy cause of past experience but its ok so far.

Gloves are alpine star gp. Great gauntlet pair of gloves. Had several pair bit like these the best.

Jacket is some no name Honda jacket. I have two one mesh and one solid. They have padding and fit well though.

Boots are alpinestar rx something pretty comfy. Held up thru a minor wreck. Might buy the set with a stiffer ankle support in the future.

I think you'll find that the bike doesn't change what we wear. Maybe the STYLE of what we wear. Those that believe in protecting something will protect it no matter what bike they are on.

I've gotten to the point that I wear the same stuff to commute as I do on spirited weekend rides... though my spirit is slower than lots of these guys. Lots of things started as just weekends, but got accustomed to wearing them every time on the bike.

Ninja 650r
Sidi boots
Astar knee gaurds
Astar gauntlet gloves (maybe armored mesh in the summer... this will be my first year with leather gloves)
Armored scorpion textile jacket, mesh Astar when REALLY hot & Commuting.
Full-face helmet (HJC carbon FS15 usually, Sparx when it's REALLY hot)

In the closet is an AlpineStars Chest protector, just doesn't get worn much. Also have a few lighter mesh jackets I'll wear if scorching hot and riding a short ways to dinner. And a few pair of riding jeans... don't like them as much as regular jeans and knee guards... but they get worn when I don't want to deal with the guards.

Sidenote: Misconception is that the steel toed boots are a substitute for riding boots. Talk to some MSF guys, or first responders. NO steel toed boots! They can crush... and sever all of your toes. They are great for dropping stuff on your feet, but if they get pinched that edge of the steel is gonna do some damage. You can't reattach toes when they are wadded up inside a steel clam in your boots.
