Riding Boot Misconceptions

So I was at the Alabama Ice house wearing my nice Dainese Axial Pro In Boots. These Cruiser guys asked me about them, if they were comfortable. I said, yes...light as well. Then one guy said he just uses Red Wings, they do the job...etc.

So I told him yeah, those boots are good for grip and non slip on pavement but offer little protection. I told him to think about it, yeah they might help against a flight rock but not if you crash. I then had him try mine on and he was like "WOW", this think is like a tennis shoe!

So then I was showing him the Armour and braces...etc, and the protection of when you go down. I then showed him some youtube videos of people use generic boots/shoes and how they fly off when you crash.

So moral of the story is there is plenty of justification to get real riding boots, they do help. Let this also be a review on the most comfortable boots I've tried as well.

They dont come cheap!

Red Wings do not work. Me and 3090 proved it a while back. Nothing broke, but everything separated. A break would have been easier to recover from.

I wear TCX with ankle support for all street and track riding.

Motocross boots off road.

Yeah...work boots don't replace race boots with the ankle support. Not all "race" boots are created equally either. I would suggest trying them on or at least buying ones that visibly have solid ankle support

My Supertechs are a pain in the to put on and take off but they are protective and somehow comfortable, the Sidis on the other hand are the most comfortable boots i have tried so far.

If anyone doubts riding boots, I don't mind sending personal pictures of what happens without them.

Not to take away from the thread because I agree with the thought but
work boots > almost anything else sans actual boots built for bikes.

The main thing is some ankle protection and they can't be pulled/slung/drug off.

people wearing sneakers/athletic shoes just don't get it. If you can step in the heel and pull them off AND they don't even come up over your ankles, they are useless and you might as well be barefoot.

Kudo's for explaining to them. I wouln't have but I'm a and don't go out in public....
