I'm glad I'm not the only one perusing these sites for "other" reasons. I do that a lot with cycle-ergo.com too. I would check out how I fit on a Desmosedici the same way women look at themselves in the mirrors, to see if my look big on a $70,000 motorcycle.

Woa... I must have missed that memo. What new bike? Last I read on a different forum, you were somewhat interested in the VFR1200, but this doesn't sound like it.

Well did you use KBB or Nada to set the price.

Congrats on the new wheels.

I thought about trading the 800 for the 1200, but instead ordered the OEM hard side cases and top boxes for the 800. So the 800 will stay for sometime(hopefully). The new bike is a 2012 KTM RC8R.. Signed the dotted line couple days ago. Will be getting it next week..

Thanks, this is a new bike. But if I say I did not use the KBB or NADA, then it will be lie. I actually looked at the used 2012 bike values to see how much they are going for.

Glenn, having bought 9 bikes in the past 2yrs gives me a lil' insight on how the KBB and NADA pricing work. Fact is, they are mostly what some desk jockeys pull out of their . In reality, the sale price is whatever the buyer/seller agree upon. Period.

I have bought several bikes at prices far below their listed retail prices. A couple of them even below the listed trade-in price. In those cases, the sellers were VERY motivated. I provided a valuable and timely service to liquidate an asset they no longer care to keep in their portfolio.

Then there was my SV1K, for which I gladly paid a higher price than listed, because I wanted a near showroom new example of a model of a genre that is no longer available. The seller provided 5yrs of climate-controlled storage - absolutely free of charge - and even offered to sell the bike to me for 65 cents on the dollar. What a gentleman, huh?

The more popular a bike is, the more likely NADA and KBB are to predict actual sale price accurately. This may be the reason why I chose the bikes I choose. Life is a lot more adventuresome when one takes the road less traveled by.

I am fully convinced if Robert Frost were to live and ride today, he would be on a Guzzi Breva Sport 1200, riding "The Pace" through the Yellow Woods... grinning ear to ear.
