Just down to style and different.

Has anyone ever been stopped by a LEO and asked to see their lids DOT sticker?

Are they EU compliant? If so I'd rock it.

As I understand they passed the snell tests, but snell won't approve them because its a modular(or whatever you call it, chin bar flips up). They have not been DOT approved but in theory they would pass the tests. I believe they are EU approved but would have to double check.

The helmet looks good, different. But I would not take a chance with my head. May be I would just buy it for the cool factor and keep it in the garage..

Reminds me of the infamous Simpson Bandit from years ago. I've always like the looks of those.

I'll be... just looked it up, and they still make them. Even a carbon fiber version. Expensive as heck though.

Roofs are cool if you're into that look, they've been out a while and if they passed Euro test then i'd rock one.

just becuase it;s not DOT or SNELL doesn't mean they are not safe, i would say Euro standards may be better becuase the euro's take riding alot more seriously then the US

In regards to the legality: If a helmet is not required in Texas, why would you need a specific cert on the helmet in order to legally wear it?

I'm with you guys on protecting the melon, though. I wouldn't wear an unsafe helmet. Not saying this isnt one, but I'd like to see certs.

Looks like what the Stig wears on Top Gear. Always wondered what kind of helmet that was.

Yes, and, as I understand it, for a manufacturer to have DOT approval, they simply must submit their manufacturing process and materials info to the DOT for certification. It's not like the DOT does a lot of active testing, like SNELL does (DOT does a little). It's a "self-certification" process. I could make DOT helmets from my garage. For a while, at least.

Had a Bandit painted up like a skull.... it was heavy and the eye slot was small by todays standards.

Cool in the early 90's though.

No. Not even when helmets were the law and what I was wearing clearly wasn't legal.

If you're that concerned about it make a bogus DOT sticker. That's what we did back then. I bought a skid lid from Kel Dogs back in '94.

Me "You got a sticker for this thing?"

Him "Yeah" (pulls roll of DOT stickers from under counter and tears one off) "Just do me the favor and don't put it on here at the counter."

Cops never looked twice at it. Even when they were talking to me for...other stuff.
