If the guy isn't responsible enough to at least have liability on his vehicle; then I highly doubt he has a job that pays enough to cover thousands of dollars in repairs. I hope I'm wrong though. Good luck!

Give him a time limit (week) to pay up. After that take legal action. He may just be trying to delay.

cops and the guy told me. but i am trying to figure out how to find out if he might be covered.

I'm on your side, generally; I think he should be charged with aggravated assault and jacked up by the D.A. - in addition to having to pay for the damages he caused. But if the legal system isn't stepping up, I can understand the OP going for the highest payoff/least cost & hassle balance available.
at this point it could go either way, i'm going to follow through as if he's going to pay for it. if he doesn't i will have everything documented and it will go to court.

if you need a check up I'm an orthopedic surgeon who can give an opinion about possible future problems as a result of this traumatic crash. The potential for future neck and back problems alone could cost you many times the amount of the bike damage

I dunno if anyone has already stated this or not as I only read thru the 1st page of this thread but i seriously think you should contact an attorney to look into bringing civil charges against this man for wreckless/wanton endangerment. Anything at all to get this guy to really pay for what he did. I dont mean $$ either, he needs jail time or something. that is ridiculous.

That's good news. At least you won't be screwed financially. So what's next?

geico is sending a truck in the morning to pick the bike up and take it to stubbs, then they will determine the damage and if in fact it is/isn't totaled. i have a $250 deductable and that's pretty much that. as far as injury i have to pay out of pocket, then save all my receipts. once i determine that i am no longer injured and no longer have to see the doc's then they will reimburse me.

as for the other guy, geico will see to it that he pays up and he will be facing a civil case via geico and a criminal case via the state.(or that's how i understood it)

also long story short, when i picked up the CBR i reactivated my motorcycle policy. i had full coverage on the buell, which was cheap. but the CBR was more expensive for full coverage so i dropped everything....everything but uninsured. and then forgot i did that....

Is it weird that I'm actually really excited about the fact that it worked out that well? That quickly, too. Pretty awesome.

Keep the updates coming, dude. Hopefully we'll see this jerkoff facing charges he can't afford in the near future.
