Gettin in the zone?

Just curious as to what y'all do to get focused before going out and turning some hot laps. Is there a certain song, type of meditation, or dropping a big deuce? Maybe there is some off the wall routines that ya do. I'm more of a music person myself. If you are a music person what is on your playlist?

How about Hollywood Undead. That'll get you crunk. But I can't wait to get back in the zone.

Concentration is a big thing for me personally.

10 minutes before I go out I usually already zip my suit up and start jamming the iPod. Nothing hard but usually instrumental stuff. Helps me focus on what I need to do.

You've seen me do this routine David do it every time.

Fwiw, I drop that "big" deuce in the morning.

I generally insult my pit mates in response to the insults they are hurtling at me.

YMMV.

Much like my oldest explained to me when he was 5 and had just hit his younger sister.

Me: Oren! Remember the Golden Rule.
Him: We did.
Me: Really? What is the Golden Rule then?
Him: Treat others as you want to be treated.
Me: Then how exactly were you both following that rule?
Him: Well, she hit me first, so that must be how she wanted to me to treat her back.

Hard logic to argue with!

I'm a big music guy. I have a "track playlist" that I'll throw in at the 5 minute call and I'll sit there and jam out for a minute or two.

I have seen you go through your routine everytime. I often wonder what sounds are going in your ears as you get zoned in. I don't bother to ask you at the time cuz I know you are focusing.

He has a very valid point. Gotta love the things kids say...

When my son was 5 or 6 we were driving down the road. I look back in my mirror and he is bobbing his head to some music but the stereo was off and this was pre iPod days. I asked him what he was doing. He said listening to music. I asked what music. He simply says.... the music playing in my head and goes back to jammin out!

I usually put on some form of metal. Devil Wears Prada. Meshuggah. Lamb of . Asking Alexandria. Atreyu. August Burns Red. Maybe Joe Satriani or Steve Vai. Depends on my mood at the time.

Here are a few that I used to listen to before I raced... Still listen to these before "hot lap" sessions...

From 1:50 to 3:40 is where my mind is at when I'm throwing down on the track.
