There's a common misconception about the Pilot Power 2CT.
Many think the 2CT technology means the center is harder.
While it is harder than the sides, the fact is that the center on a Pilot Power 2CT is still 18% softer than a regular Pilot Power.
For most normal street riders a Pilot Road 2 or 3 is a much better tire mileage wise with excellent traction still.

This is an older chart, but it may help you better choose your next tire if you stay with the Michleins.
At this time we've gotten excellent performance and mileage out of running a complete set of Road 3's for medium aggressive riders or a Power 3 front and a Pilot Road 3 rear for most sane street riding.
For commuting I recommend 36 front/38 rear with this combo, and you can drop the rear down to 34 to go play on the weekend.

To the OP,

John @ SCRC has been dealing with tires for years. He has a ton of knowledge he can share with you. He is going to be your best bet for input on stuff like this.

Wouldnt you trust a guy that deals with this on a daily basis for street and racing? I would.

Give them a call tomorrow or send him a pm and he can get you all sorted out.

Goodluck

what he said.

i have the PP single compounds and i have more than 2k on them and my rear was on the bike before i got it!

oh and i had the pilot road 2's on my last bike and never had a problem with them losing grip. and they were great in the rain to boot.

I get about 5k from a rear, 10k from a front. I used to run 2cts. I now run BT016s. Same wear. BTs better grip, and a lot less cash.
