the R6 was super agressive so my shoulders and hands were feeling the burn. i'm not used to it since i ride the Buell XB12R. shifted really nice and the bike just dared you to push it. looked crazy sexy too.

the FZ8 was fan freaking tastic - you could tell that the 800CC motor would take you to high speeds effortlessly. loved the riding position too.

the R1 - hhhmmm, myself and another person had some "issues" with the clutch and engine not syncing properly on take-offs. it would start hopping if you slowly let out of the clutch and slowly let out of the accelerator.

i'm sure if i wasn't feeling as i needed to foot it around, i could easily bypass that by leaving a little more agressivley from a stop. ride position felt a little more forgiving than the R6 too.

and the last ride was the big SCL Hog HAHA !!!! loved it loved it loved it !!!!

such a gorgeous bike - shifted like butter and picked up speed like a freaking car. seat got hot a bit though - you could really feel the heat from the engine coming through.

overall, i had an excellent day. thanks to Texas Yamaha and their Demo Team for letting us ride their toys.....
for the R1.... I think it is the operator, NOT the bike. Heard people mentioning clutch problems... Dont see why people were stalling them at redlights and stuttering around. If it is stuttering that means you need to let out the clutch and give it more throttle. its friction zone is more narrow because of the firing order.

I loved the VMAX, at the end of the day, me and the guys took them on the road and no matter what gear you can bust them loose. dirt bike handle bars controlling 210 hp is tempting.

Glad yall had fun hope more can come put around with us tomorrow.

How much taller is it than the CBR1000RR's first gear?
talked with you earlier this evening, you had great input. Im not sure why the gear is so tall, if you go slowly ive been told you can hit 102. not sure if its true but dont want to test it.

Did anybody ride the Super Tenere? I felt like a kid on that thing handled awesome.

I never stalled the R1 but the clutch from stop was tricky and I've ridden and tested all kinds of bikes. Before we got started they even instructed me to slip the clutch from a stop.

The CBR1000RR will do 95 in first, but it's supposed to be a "relatively short" gear.

sorry wasnt offended just speaking aloud. didnt mean it in a rude way, you just have to be aggressive when launching because of the altered firing order. Thank you for coming man. I felt the Vmax was the same way just have to RPM match

yeah, out of the 7 or 8 times i had to stop and take off, i think i nailed it about 5 times.

the other 3 times the bike started bucking like a wild bronco HAHA !!!!

i wide open throttled that thing in first gear - i think i launched myself into the 5th dimension.

but that FZ8 was still my favorite lol...

I would like to thank Yamaha for letting me test ride some of there bikes had fun. Rode down there from the North side in the cold. I rode the R6, fz6r, and Fz8 and the R6 again.

The R6: awesome bike. first time on a super sport and love the power. Shifting was a breeze on it and had good mid range power. Wanted to open her up and see what she would do but its only a test ride. The bike was defiantly built for corners and for the track. That being said i hated the angle i was sitting at, its so aggressive for me. I could deal with it for short rides but feel that going more than an hour on it would be a pain. I really wish they would make a super sport for the track and then make one for the streets. Same engine but raise the bars a just little, softer seat, and not as aggressive seating position. Other wise loved the bike and wish i could buy one.

Fz6r: Nice bike with comfortable seating/ position. Rides smooth and has enough power to get you around town comfortably. The problem i had with this bike was the shifter for the foot. It was very hard to shift into any gear, you really had to kick up for it to shift. It could just be this bike, since so many people have ridden it and not the entire line of fz6r's

Fz8: Another fantastic bike, that is comfortable. Rides smooth and shifts smooth. Wish it had a wind shield but no big deal. Also it felt like it did not want to counter steer, you really had to force it otherwise it would turn the front wheel into the turn(at least thats what it felt like to me and someone else i talked to). Wish i could have gone through more of the gears only got to 2 or 3rd.
Had fun and hope to buy a super sport pretty soon.

Yea, the VMAX required more throttle from stop than I expected, but it was more smooth than the R1

Got there late both days, so only got to try the FZ8 on Sun. Feels a lot like my FZ1 but with much better fueling down low. Handlebar grip angles feel a bit odd though, tilting up at the ends rather than down.

Would've like to have tried the FJR, but at the sedate pace the test lead rider went, it would've been pointless. Okay for the cruisers, I suppose. The lead rider on my ride actually fussed at a cager for not paying attention to the road. I was think to myself: "buddy... concentrate on leading the ride and letting us actually test out these bikes... please!"

The Kawasaki Test Ride event leads were much willing to let us rip. So was the Ducati Diavel test ride.

On the bright side, I did have a good chat with Brandon(?) on Sat. Nice fella.

yeah, real good guy - he tried to get me into a $13K bike.

i laughed and said it was never going to happen, BUT, he still has my information just in case he finds a nice 600 for me.

i think even a 600 will be a serviceable upgrade for my Buell....
