Yah, the FJR is the only "new" product from the tuning forks in a long while, and it's really only partially new. They are dropping wayyy back into their own endzone to punt.

What I'm really waiting for are the triples Yamaha is cooking up. An 1100cc triple R1 sounds like quite a ride. 700cc triple R6 (or should I say R7) would be nice too. I do hope Yamaha get their way with the racing organizations. This world needs more than I4 and V2 superbikes.
I say a 675 triple R6 would be great.. but i think they are doing it for a counter attack against the little cbrs and ninjas (500cc). The R6 is due for a makeover as well. Ill be on the strat deluxe fur sureee. The FJR is the best handling bike ive ever riden.

I do too. When I am ready for a newer and better handling track bunny in a couple of years, it'll be a middleweight triple for sure. So far, Daytona R is the only game in town - not counting the MV Agusta, which is a bit too esoteric. I'm looking forward to Yamaha spicing up the competition.

had an awesome time at Texas Yahama South.

got there about 5 minutes before 9:30 for the first round of test rides.

R6
FZ8 (my favorite)
R1
SCL "Spider" (i think that's what it was called)

the R6 was super agressive so my shoulders and hands were feeling the burn. i'm not used to it since i ride the Buell XB12R. shifted really nice and the bike just dared you to push it. looked crazy sexy too.

the FZ8 was fan freaking tastic - you could tell that the 800CC motor would take you to high speeds effortlessly. loved the riding position too.

the R1 - hhhmmm, myself and another person had some "issues" with the clutch and engine not syncing properly on take-offs. it would start hopping if you slowly let out of the clutch and slowly let out of the accelerator.

i'm sure if i wasn't feeling as i needed to foot it around, i could easily bypass that by leaving a little more agressivley from a stop. ride position felt a little more forgiving than the R6 too.

and the last ride was the big SCL Hog HAHA !!!! loved it loved it loved it !!!!

such a gorgeous bike - shifted like butter and picked up speed like a freaking car. seat got hot a bit though - you could really feel the heat from the engine coming through.

overall, i had an excellent day. thanks to Texas Yamaha and their Demo Team for letting us ride their toys.....

I rode the R1 and the Vmax. That crossplane is tricky from a dead stop. Have to apply more throttle and slip the clutch more compared to every other bike I've ridden.

The Vmax has a really wide seating position. Feel sorry for anyone with short legs

Yea, well, one of the folks with Yamaha was explaining that the crossplane fires one cylinder at a time. It only bogged down while engaging the clutch. Didn't seem first was too tall or that the bike was moving faster than others I've had ridden while at idle.

How much taller is it than the CBR1000RR's first gear?
