Cameron, Tx..

Dannyboys ride to Cameron, tx...

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=camer...gl=us&t=m&z=13

Changed it up a bit...Dannyboy took us to Cameron, Tx.
Atr at Sally's saddle shop...AWESOME food..Good service ...we felt very welcomed and were well taken care of...
We recommended hammocks in the back of the restaurant so we can take an hour nap after the ride...
they are working on it..
Good roads on the way there..

good find Danny..

Sissy's Saddle Shop Cafe

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sissys...17958181569266

We stopped for lunch at Sissy's Saddle Shop Cafe.
It is just outside of Cameron Texas. Sissy's husband had a leather and saddle shop. He passed away and Sissy made it into a Cafe with home cooking served family style. Her and her employees are the nicest folks you will find and the food is fantastic. We had a meat, two vegetables, desert and drink for $10.

I do not think she has a web page but I posted a link above to Facebook.

The roads out there are fantastic. FM908 was awesome.

Cameron Jail

We toured the Cameron Jail

cameronjail zps778709b8

In 1895 the the town of Cameron hired a St Louis jail building company to build their jail. The company put all the bricks, blocks and brick layers on a train and moved it all to Cameron and built this St Louis style building.
They had a spiral stair case inside with all the jail cells on the outside of the stairs and could have a hanging on the inside of the spiral stair case. But they never hung anyone in there. Instead they always used the old oak tree by the court house across the street.

There is an identical jail building in Bellville built by the same St Louis company but that one was built with Bellville bricks but looks identical.

What I also likes was that the sides were served in large bowls for everyone to try. Just like at the family table.
