what happens when....

You put 1000 headers on a gsxr 600? Is it possible and if so what does it do? Increase horsepower? Or what? Reason I ask is the one who sold me my bike said it was like putting a full exhaust on without actually having to buy the full thing. Is this true?

Think of it this way; if it was that easy to add horsepower, and Suzuki was already making headers for GSXR1Ks down the hall in the same factory, why wouldn't they be doing it stock? These bikes are made to be close to race-ready from the factory, leaving that kind of power on the table for Kawasaki or Honda to discover and use would be foolish.
There is a lot more to exhaust engineering than I will probably ever know, but just sticking larger pipes on it will not in and of itself create any significant gains. Also, I think the spacing of the headers would be different from the 600 to the 1000. I could be wrong.

Seems to work with certain years. I think weight saving was the big gain.

i know you can bore the 600 motor out to 750. that will add some power more than the headers.
