ATGATT for commuting for me. If not riding pants, then at least knee pads.
i have close calls like this at least once a week now. sometimes more. idk if it's them or me but that's why i never EVER take focus off of my surroundings. and i always try to stay as lose and as fluid as i can.

I had a near-similiar experience last week on 59 Southbound during lunch time. The city cleaners were cleaning the left shoulder and I was in the left lane with an SUV infront of me just passing the 610 overpass....I saw this and slowed down to give me space between myself and the SUV. Well I wasn't paying attention (admittedly) but the dumbasses infront of me decided to slam on the brakes and come to a COMPLETE STOP on the left lane of 59 Southbound...all other lanes are driving like normal, 70-80mph. I nearly rear ended into the SUV in front of me, and had I done so, I would probabably have crashed into there rear window and ended up in there trunk. Imagine the LOLs that would have ensued had they decided to run with ME in the trunk

Glad you are mostly okay. Heal up soon.

On my lunch run, I was caught by surprise when a big long flatbed 18-wheeler suddenly pulled a right hand turn from the inside lane of a quiet 4-lane divided road. I was cruising on the outside lane back to the office on a full stomach and 1/2 empty head. I sure did not notice the flatbed's turn signal and had to hit the brakes pretty quick. Wasn't exactly a change-my-undie moment, but a good reminder to pay attention no matter what and where.

Lesson learned.

BTW. Love this time of the year. I get to wrap myself with gear.

Oh, don't worry too much about your engine running on w/o oil. Even without oil pressure, the bearing surfaces usually stay coated with oil and can run for a short while without damage. Most bikes are equipped with a tip over sensor and will shut off engine quickly enough.

I wan't to Thank everyone, y'all are all AWESOME! The bike is home really not all that bad, exept engine is iffy after losing all the oil- No tip over switch. I'll try to get some pics of bike wed. as for me not much to see except raw knuckles and a buch of swelling, and i'm fat so it all blends haha.

RojerLockless, I don't know you, but it seems that your only concern is that i'm one of those P.O.S. without ins. and riding illegal so just to ease your conscious, I have full coverage ins. bike is legal (registration & inspection) so just for your own concern nobody is going to get screwed- no one else was hurt. And there were a few outside circumstances, but yes I know it was my fault- You really don't have to remind me of that, its emblazed on my brain. Otherwise thankyou for your concern.
