I almost tagged a jeep Cherokee last week on my commute home. On the I45 feeder southbound just before BW8, I was in the third lane from the right and the DB cut in front of me and another SUV making for the entrance ramp to 45 (one lane to my left). I hit my horn and brakes and did a swerve to the right and probably misses his bumper by less than a foot. Almost lost the front end, but managed to hold it together.

ATGATT for commuting for me. If not riding pants, then at least knee pads.

I try to be on alert when within 100-200 yards of an off ramp from the freeway for just this reason. DBs slashing across from the inside lane at the last minute to make their exit.

Man. That sucks. I drive that stretch every day on my commute. Even in the cage it can be unnerving with the traffic that backs up at the flyover for Woodlands Parkway. 242 used to be awful, too. Godspeed with the recovery.

Glad to hear your OK. Thanks for the post. I'm still a member of the "haven't been down yet" club - at least on the street, and it's always good to hear of a survivable accident with (what sounds like) fully recoverable injuries.
