well it happened to me (i went down)

ya know you always hear that with motorcycles," there are those that have been down and those that will go down" but you never really think it would happen to you, well i stupidly thought that. friday 02/01/2013 at about 4:30pm on I-45 N in front of the woodlands cruising along at about 50-60mph, sun to my back over my left shoulder, and a SUV in front of me in the far left lane, the traffic in front of said suv started to stop very fast acording to the suv driver, and with the sun i did'nt see the brake lights quick enough and BAM, and thats putting it mildly next thing i know bike is bouncing away and i'm sliding, rolling, and bouncing myself. One thing i can say is as bad as i hurt, can't walk yet-swollen joints ankles, knee hips shoulders, i'm alive, and the only bone i broke is in my right hand-they called it a boxers fracture. Yes i was wearing gear, atleast everything i had. Mesh jacket w/padding (Bilt), padded kevlar pants (bilt), Full face helmet-Thank -it took a helluva hit, acouple of times. but my dumb was only wearing a pair of ropers, and about a half an hour before, I stopped for a Dr Pepper and i left my gloves in my jacket pocket yea my knuckles look alot like hamgurger meat. Doc said she was amazed of my outcome She said i must of bounced like a rubber ball to end up the way i did. oh yea jacket did a pretty good job, its shredded but the only road rash i have on my upper body is right above my belt line where the jacket lifted a little.pants only ripped a little, left upper thigh-no rash, and right knee w/a silver dollar rash iguess where the pad shifted. over all i'm pretty lucky it could have been much worse and in a few days when the swelling goes down i should be walking. The bike did'nt fair so well, but hav'nt had a chance to look it over well.

Don't worry about the bike, take care of yourself well physically and mentally. when you are good then bike is all superficial, you will fix it ,replace it.....and from now on in the street you will treat anybody around you like a threat.....
Good post to learn from...

hey everyone thanks for all the good thoughts, And this was just A real dumb acc. and i hope someone can learn from this i know i have some new lessons in my head.............................................. .................................................. .................................................. ......................................Oh and about the helmet, I have two, one full face and one 3/4 helmet, and most of the time i wear the 3/4 that day i chose the full face, Thank , cause if i were wearing the lesser helmet i would prolly had quite a bit of face damage, and i'm ugly enough as it is. FULL FACE HELMETS FOR ME ONLY FOR NOW ON.
